Trained as High School Geography Teacher. Retired in May 2007 after 17 years in a state high school. (The influence of geography reflected in paintings: the sky, trees, landscape features like mountains, hills, gullies, creeks, cliffs, rocks, slopes, etc.)
Completed an American correspondence Fine Art Painting Course from Famous Artists School, USA, in early 1970s. Painted in acrylic from 1981 to 1987. Has been painting seriously in watercolour since 1988. Sold more than 300 paintings.
I love watercolour for its transparency, spontaneity, unpredictable quality, convenience and speed of execution. In teaching I always emphasise composition, tone, area of focus, colour, harmony and design principles.
Paints mainly landscapes but also flowers, birds and old buildings. Essentially self-taught, with the help of books.
Has been demonstrating watercolour painting at 8 art societies around Sydney.
Seldom participates in art competitions. Won awards, including First Prize in Watercolour four times.
Has been teaching adult watercolour painting at Castle Hill Art Society since 2007.
