Watercolour Techniques and Skills

Joachim has been demonstrating watercolour painting at 8 art societies, and teaching watercolour painting at Castle Hill Art Society since 2007.

He seldom participates in art competitions but has won awards, including 4 First Prizes in art societies.

He will be demonstrating various watercolour techniques and skills, ending up with at least 2 quarter-sheet paintings.

Techniques covered:

1. wet-on-wet way of painting stormy skies;
2. scraping with a plastic card to create rocks; (see rocks at the base of the gum trees)
3. using masking tape to paint gum trees with light trunks. (see before and after removing the masking tapes)
4. spraying water for texture, e.g. hailstorm.
